Elon Musk on Tuesday (June 4, 2025) sharply criticized President Donald Trump’s latest agenda bill, which the president is urging GOP senators to support, calling it a “disgusting abomination.”
“I’m sorry, but I just can’t stand it anymore. This massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination,” the tech billionaire posted on X (formerly Twitter). “Shame on those who voted for it: you know you did wrong. You know it.”
Musk continued in subsequent posts, warning, “Congress is making America bankrupt,” and, “In November next year, we fire all politicians who betrayed the American people.”
White House officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, said they were caught off guard by Musk’s harsh remarks. While Musk’s opposition to the bill was known to senior staff in the West Wing, they did not expect him to take such a strong public stance, especially given his previous conversations with White House staff and GOP lawmakers.
This is not the first time Musk has criticized the bill. In a recent interview following the bill’s passage in the House, Musk expressed his disappointment, arguing that the legislation would increase the federal budget deficit rather than reduce it. He also claimed it would undermine government efficiency efforts.
When asked about Musk’s latest criticism during a press briefing on Tuesday afternoon, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt responded, “The president already knows where Elon Musk stands on this bill. It doesn’t change the president’s opinion — this is one big, beautiful bill and he is sticking to it.”
Musk, who had previously served as a special government employee leading the Department of Government Efficiency, officially left the administration last Friday.
