President Ruto Conducts Major Diplomatic Reshuffle, Appoints New Ambassadors and High Commissioners

President William Ruto has announced a significant realignment of Kenya’s foreign service, nominating and redeploying 20 diplomats to key positions worldwide as part of efforts to enhance the country’s diplomatic performance in line with his Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).

The nominations, submitted for vetting and approval by the National Assembly, include career diplomats and political appointees redistributed across Africa, Europe, Asia, and North America. The appointments aim to strengthen Kenya’s international representation and economic diplomacy in strategic regions.

Key Ambassadorial and High Commissioner Appointments Include:

  • Ambassador Galma Mukhe Boru to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

  • Ambassador Anthony Mwaniki Muchiri to Ankara, Turkey

  • Ambassador Lucy Kiruthu to Bangkok, Thailand

  • Mr. Henry Wambuma to Bujumbura, Burundi

  • Ambassador Catherine Kirumba Karemu to Dar es Salaam, Tanzania

  • Ambassador George Morara Orina to Dublin, Ireland

  • Mr. Abdirashid Salat Abdille to Jakarta, Indonesia

  • Ambassador Maurice Odhiambo Makoloo to London, United Kingdom

  • Ambassador Joseph Musyoka Masila to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

  • Ambassador Edwin Afande to Vienna, Austria

  • Hon. Florence Chepngetich Bore to Windhoek, Namibia

In addition, several Consuls General and Deputy Heads of Mission have been appointed to support Kenya’s diplomatic missions, including:

  • Amb. Mohamed Ramadhan Ruwange to Arusha, Tanzania

  • Ms. Jayne Jepkorir to Dubai, UAE

  • Ms. Judy Kiaria Nkumiri to Goma, Democratic Republic of Congo

  • Mr. Mohamed Amin Sheikh Nuh to Berlin, Germany

  • Amb. Kipkosgei Toroitich to Kampala, Uganda

  • Amb. Moni Manyange to Kinshasa, DRC

  • Amb. Geoffrey Eyanae Kaituko to Ottawa, Canada

  • Amb. Suleiman Ibrahim Roba to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

  • Mr. David Mwangi Karanja to Seoul, South Korea

State House spokesperson Hussein Mohamed highlighted that these appointments align with the government’s broader agenda to deepen economic and social transformation through enhanced international cooperation.

This reshuffle reflects a blend of merit-based career appointments and strategic political placements, aimed at optimizing Kenya’s diplomatic footprint and advancing bilateral and multilateral partnerships. It is expected to inject fresh energy into Kenya’s foreign relations and aid the country’s push for stronger economic ties globally.
